Let’s Move On, Shall We?

Under: How Outrageous, Random Thoughts @ 2:29 am on Sunday, 02.5.06

enough of this, please! There are more pressing issues in the World that we Muslims and Arabs should be more concerned with…The occupation of Palestine, The Holy Land… The occupation of Iraq?

Enough with the outrageous over reaction. Not only has it turned tasteless, it also has lost effectiveness.

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Today at the National Press Club, the Muslim American
Society Freedom Foundation hosted a press conference on “Faith and Free Speech”, addressing the issue of cartoons defaming Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),
which also depict him as a terrorist.

The press conference was covered by a host of media outlets, including C-SPAN.

Participating in the press conference were: Esam Omeish, President of Muslim
American Society; Mahdi Bray, Executive Director of MAS Freedom Foundation;
Reverend Robert Maddox, of the Interfaith Conference
of Metropolitan Washington; Deedra Abboud, MAS Freedom Arizona Director; Don Parker, Interfaith Alliance Press Secretary; and Ahmed Younis, Muslim Public Affairs National Director.

Statements were also read on behalf of Sir Igmund Sternberg, Co-Founder of
Three Faith Forum (UK) and Sir Iqbal Sacranie, Secretary General of the
Muslim Council of Britain.

MAS Freedom has announced a major campaign addressing religious defamation that will include massive reprints of a USA Today Questions and Answers
brochure on Muslims, a pamphlet on the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), a joint publication between American and European religious organizations on
religious defamation and participation in an interfaith forum in Denmark.

On Saturday, the Philadelphia Inquirer reprinted the blasphemous cartoons. This is the first U.S. newspaper to do so.

“This has nothing to do with free speech, its pure sensationalism that reeks
of religious disrespect,” said MAS Freedom Executive Director Mahdi Bray. “What the Philadelphia Inquirer has done in irresponsible, provocative and
reckless.”

MAS Freedom has contacted its Philadelphia chapter to immediately responds to the affront.

Additionally, MAS Freedom, along with other Muslim organizations, will meet this evening with the Danish Ambassador to the U.S.
