Perhaps standardized testing will help solve this problem, perhaps the education curriculum as a whole needs to be modified. Not everything we learn in college we retain, but we would hope that a college graduate would be able to use what he/she learned in college and apply it to every day life! We have this problem here in Jordan too... It's like people only want to hold a degree to get a job, not everyone cares to be competent, truly competent at one they study, and not everyone loves what they study...
