State of Extreme Confusion

Under: Uncategorized @ 7:21 pm on Sunday, 04.30.06

The daily routine is draining. I took sometime off work… I’ve stayed away from the PC for the most part … It felt a bit refreshing, but there is something missing. Something seems to be lingering in my mind … the truth of the matter, I have no idea what it is but I do know for a fact that I’ve reached the point in which I feel that nothing I am doing at this point in my life makes sense, or worst, nothing has meaning.

I have no idea what to do with my life!

Don’t Ask Me!

You’d think if a friend or family member asks you to accomany them to the Salon because they want a second opinion that they’d actually take what you have to say into consideration…well not Lilian. Lilian has got to be one of the pickiest people I have ever met and gotten to know so well in my entire life! She described to the hair stylist how she wanted her hair to look, the lady - who I highly recommend by the way- did a great job with Lilian’s hair. As the lady was finishing Lilian’s hair, I couldn’t help but notice Lilian’s facial expressions. She looked as if she was ready to kill someone. Eyes rolling non-stop saying ‘ugh I cannot believe it looks like that!’ ‘Iman, what do you think?’ ‘It looks very nice Lilian, just like you wanted it.’ (Read on …)

Nothing is Random

Under: Random Thoughts @ 1:21 pm on Wednesday, 04.26.06

Something I read a while ago. I read it over and over, each time finding it more intriguing than the other.

Nothing is random, nor will anything ever be, whether a long string of perfectly blue days that begin and end in golden dimness, the most seemingly chaotic political acts, the rise of a great city, the crystalline structure of a gem that has never seen the light, the distributions of fortune, what time the milkman gets up, the position of the electron, or the occurrence of one astonishingly frigid winter after another.

Even electrons, supposedly the paragons of unpredictability, are tame and obsequious little creatures that rush around at the speed of light, going precisely where they are supposed to go. They make faint whistling sounds that when apprehended in varying combinations are as pleasant as the wind flying through a forest, and they do exactly as they are told. Of this, one can be certain.

And yet there is a wonderful anarchy, in that the milkman chooses when to arise, the rat picks the tunnel into which he will dive when the subway comes rushing down the track from Borough Hall, and the snowflake will fall as it will. How can this be? If nothing is random, and everything is predetermined, how can there be free will? The answer to that is simple. (Read on …)

Enjoying It For The Most Part

There’s nothing wrong with looking back at previous seasons of our lives. But, God has a purpose for allowing us to be in the season we’re in right now. So enjoy where you’re at on the way to where you’re going. -Unknown

God! Enough.

How many of us have annoying co-workers whom we just wish would take a long leave of absense and not come back ever again?! I have this co-worker who sits on the oppposite end of the ‘hallway’ from where I sit. She is very sweet, I admit. I have nothing against her. Her only problem is that she can get very annoying. She is always chewing and cracking her gum! It makes me want to get up and pull it out of her mouth and stick it in her hair. The noise is so beyond annoying.  I wanna scream! I find myself saying out loud, “God! Enough already!” But she doesn’t seem to get it. I think I need to do more than that. I plan to do something about it. I just don’t know what exactly!

What a long day! I am out of here!

How to talk to students about it

Under: Uncategorized, Around The World @ 1:42 pm on Tuesday, 04.25.06

Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, and news coverage of the event and discussions and news coverage of the event and discussions at school could prompt kids to ask some very big questions about what happened and why. Here are some guidelines on how to talk to kids about the Holocaust from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

  1. Define the term \”Holocaust.\” advertisement OAS_AD(’ArticleFlex_1′)
  2. Avoid comparisons of pain.
  3. Avoid simple answers to complex history.
  4. Just because it happened does not mean it was inevitable.

I, like goo goo dolls, wish everyone was loved tonight and every night, but the bad and ugly seem to be out-numbering the good in this world. Every day, my theory is proven right …

Another Monday!

Under: Uncategorized @ 10:50 am on Monday, 04.24.06

I cannot believe we are closing in on the last week of April. I took a few days work starting this Thursday. After receiving an email from my boss about time off and vacation requests, I put in a request reading: For now, I’d like to take April 27, 28, and 31st off. Thanks! She replied, Iman: There is no April 31. Do you mean May 1?  I felt a little stupid actually, and could’ve replied saying I meant May 1st, but that wouldn’t have covered it up so I replied: Actually, I thought April was 31 days! I have no idea why. But yes, May 1st. (I can’t believe April is half way though!) Thanks.

Anyway, here is something so that reminds me of those guys right off the Cicero Exit off the Stevenson who, no matter what the weather is - bitter cold or scorching hot - are standing on the side with their signs waiting for the light to turn red so that they can walking in between cars flashing their signs that are begging for $$$ in your face. The tendency is to always lock my doors if they weren’t locked already! Don’t ask me why, but they scare me.

Brad & Angelina are having a baby and I need money for a gift“A man who would only identify himself as a hitchhiker from New York sits on a street corner, Saturday, April 22, 2006, in the Georgetown section of Washington. The man said lots of people take a look at his sign referring to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and some leave spare change.”

That’s funny! But how thoughtful of him

I Wish…

I wish I had curly hair; I wish life was not as complicated as it is; I wish traffic didn’t exist; I wish to retire pretty soon; I wish to tone my trouble area; I wish wars never existed; I wish the world was a much safer place; I wish Palestine was never occupied; I wish to live there someday without feeling ‘out of place’; I wish there weren’t that many dumb people in powerful positions; I wish to find the perfect pair of jeans I’ve been looking for the past several months; I wish Sayeda was not that annoying; I wish Lilian could be a little bit mean; I wish Ranya was a little bit more fun; I wish Maryam would wake up; I wish Beesan would stop watching those shows; I wish Rihab wasn’t as deep (and annoying as a result); I wish some people were just a bit more understanding; I wish people were a bit more sensitive to others’ feelings; I wish weekends were 4 days long; I wish everyone happiness, peace of mind, joy, success, love;  I wish upon a star; I wish upon many things but for now I wish I can get the hell out of here!

You too May Want To…

With tax season all but over, accountants may want to whip out the disinfecting wipes. A University of Arizona study found that accountants have the second-germiest workplaces in America. (Teachers’ desks—no surprise—are the worst.) When accountants’ desks and cubicles were swabbed, they had 2.5 times more bacteria than doctors’ offices. Whose desks were cleanest? TV producers, consultants, publicists—and lawyers, (guess why?)  with seven times fewer germs than accountants.

May, please understand why I will not hug you next time I see you!

Should I?

I don’t recall the last time I sat down and actually wrote pages and pages of hand-written notes. I take a good amount of notes in meetings, and use pen and paper for certain projects for work, but the time spent using pen and paper as opposed to typing is considerably very little.

I must note that I have very strange hand writing. It’s never consistent. Sometimes I slant to the right, others to the left and other times I don’t slant at all. My signature is another issue. I cannot get a consistent signature! Another critical point, I strongly believe the pen type and color has a lot to do with the handwriting’s appearnce!

Today, while having my lunch, I decided to take a handwriting analysis. Here, the results: (Read on …)

Making Sense…

Under: Thought of The Day @ 2:33 pm on Tuesday, 04.18.06

You are not an accident. Your parents may not have planned you, but God did. He wanted you alive and created you for a purpose. Focusing on yourself will never reveal your purpose. You were made by God and for God, and until you understand that, life will never make sense. Only in God do we discover our origin, our identity, our meaning, our purpose, our significance, and our destiny.
