Rallies across U.S. call for illegal immigrant rights

Under: Around The World, How Outrageous @ 9:00 am on Tuesday, 04.11.06

Hundreds of thousands of protesters turned out Monday in small towns and big cities across the United States, demanding that undocumented immigrants get a chance to live the American dream.

Illegal?! Rights? A chance to live the American dream? I don’t think so! Anyone who is out of status, anyone who is illegal should be sent to where they came from. Deported. The End!

Leave them alone… they’re nice people.

I think the big fuss is about the fact that now these people are going to be considered felons, ie. that they committed felonies.

Felonies are much worse than misdemeanors. Felonies include murder, rape and burglary.

Supposedly after this bill, humanitarian workers in the US who interact and care for illegal immigrants in the US will also be considered felons (anyone who provides assistance to illegal immigrants will be charged of a felony too). The punishment will be no less than 3 years I think.

I think this is horrible and it’s only going to increase the level of hate towards the US especially from people who didn’t use to hate it to begin with. It’s as if the US is inviting more hate with this.

It has been pointed out in studies that illegal immigrants in the US provide almost no negative impact on the economy and that on the contrary they even most probably have a positive effect. The best thing that can be done about illegal immigration in the US is better enable the people who are in charge of fighting, but suddenly converting millions of people who reside in the country and contribute to its economy into felons, along with those who work with them is just ridiculous.

Hamzeh, I understand, and to be charged as a felon is too extreme…however if one is here illegally, why should they be given the right to stay here?

Rihab, They could be…
