Still Holding On…

Something I came across really made me think of how true it is…Alice wrote about the Lost Soul… The old soul enjoyed a happy life, surrounded by a strong family, faithful friends and children. In reflection and honesty - she continues - prayer was a part of the old soul’s daily life. “Age brought question to the old soul’s mind, which has no answers. It was all based on faith. In sum and substance, you believed in God or you did not. It was easy to believe in God who showered blessings upon some lives,” but how is one to believe when very young children suffer with cancer - as one example?!

Personally, I strongly believe this comes down to how strong the faith we have within is. A child’s death, a young man’s terminal illness, wars, diseases, trying times, failures and other miseries are just trials that should strengthen our faith. However, as Alice points out, for many these are reasons that lead them to stop believing. Their faith was challenged and [unfortunately] failed.

“The heart breaking grief of a loved one’s young death cast a fearful, darkness over the old soul, a darkness and disbelief that pervaded the old soul’s life, like forceful tentacles of a deep-sea creature trying to suck life away.”

“The belief, the prayer was gone…washed away as simply as words on a chalkboard. The old soul knows  shame, for the fortitude of faith was never practiced. The old soul is now a lost soul…longing to find the way back home!”

I don’t know if there are any tests or trials in life - what’s the point of testing a kid by making them starve to death??

Miseries are a part of life, portraying them as tests/trials is just man’s way of coping.

I don’t look at it in the sense that the kid himself is being tested…those around him/her … the family, friends, etc. are.

Miseries are a part of life, true… but what’s this life all about anyway?
