Today is Holocaust Remembrance Day, and news coverage of the event and discussions and news coverage of the event and discussions at school could prompt kids to ask some very big questions about what happened and why. Here are some guidelines on how to talk to kids about the Holocaust from the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C.

  1. Define the term \”Holocaust.\” advertisement OAS_AD(’ArticleFlex_1′)
  2. Avoid comparisons of pain.
  3. Avoid simple answers to complex history.
  4. Just because it happened does not mean it was inevitable.
