That Never Escapes You!

The ultimate question that I hate the most asked by some of my favorite people :P

I was babysitting my 3 neices and nephew today, and kept reminding myself that it really isn’t too bad…I mean so what if I have to put up with the constant nagging, yelling, fighting and crying of little kids …that’s my idea of a perfect vacation…Overall, they’re not too bad, but sometimes they just manage to drive you crazy!  Anyway, so as I was reading the news, Amoonah comes to me and randomly asks:
Why aren’t you married yet? And why isn’t khalto Maryam married either?
Me: I don’t know.
Amoonah: Ok, when is Khalto Maryam going to get married?
Me: I really don’t know…why?
Amoonah: why not? And when are you going to get married?
Me: Do you think she should be married? And I don’t know when I am going to get married.
Amoonah: Well khalto maryam needs to get married…She’s big and you’re little still (I think she’s saying that because Maryam is a foot taller than me )  …but still you should find a guy and marry him.
Me: Khalto Maryam is 29 years old and I am 28, so we’re not that far apart in age. I should find just any guy?
Amoonah: Just find someone who has somethings in common with you and marry him. It doesn’t matter what he is or how old he is. He could be younger than you or older than you.
At this moment I thought to myself how does a girl who just turned 7 know all this? And why is she so concerned about why we’re not married yet? Cute? Funny? I don’t know but I was going to see where she was heading with all this so I continued:
Me: You think so? how much older? how much younger?
Amoonah: (shrugs) ummm, I dunno. 30 the oldest and 27 the youngest, maybe?
Jeneen interrupts and says: You should consider anyone who’s under the age of 65!
Me: What??? under the age of 65??
Jeneen and Amoonah started laughing! I didn’t think it was that funny! but I must admit, very cute!

Not only do I hear it from my mother, aunts, family friends, ex co-workers but my 7 and 8-year-old nieces as well!

It’s become such a routine question …just like ‘how are you?’ … I hate it … but oh well! I guess there are too many concerned people out there! And then when you actually do get married, they switch over to ’so when are you going to have kids?’

Bring them on! I am open provided they meet 75% of what I look for! (and I am being very lenient with 75%)
