Ola, those who rejected the aid were civilians and not the Lebanese government. Like I said earlier, I am not going to argue against those who refused the aid...they obviously have their reasons.

Hamzeh, I don't think 'giving the green light' is supposed to be taken for its literal meaning...it's just a different way of saying that they could've done more. What Jordan did by sending aid and setting up field hospitals was indeed a very good gesture...Thanks for the article!

Dina, Thanks for the link!

"They cannot give the green light for this strike against us and then show up to treat us."

Classic Arab mentality. To actually convince themselves that Jordan can give Israel any kind of green light to go ahead with doing something like this.

I personally thought that Jordan could have done a lot more in the first days of the Israeli attack to help discourage the US from supporting Israel in this, and I believe that probably is the reason why some in Lebanon are disapointed by the Jordanian position, especially that Jordan was one of only three Arab nations that criticized Hizballah in this conflict. A criticism that might be valid to a certain extent, but I personally believe was simply inappropriate at the time. Saudi Arabia is a country that deliver such criticism to Hizballah because it can very easily make up for it with massive financial aid to Lebanon (the Saudi King has already pledged 1.5 billion in aid), Jordan on the other hand can't offer anything similar, but the medical aid that's flowing in and making all the correct statements albeit maybe too late.

But it's interesting reading this, because I just read another news report that doesn't portray the sort of image that this one did about how well the Lebanese are receiving Jordan's aid. Here:

Iman, I knoe the Arab response is shy and shameful, but what I'm saying is that if anyone's aids should be rejected then it's the U.S inthe first place! Besides, those aids don't only come fromthe Jordanian government, people in Jordan are protesting openly against the war and many of them made donations to Lebanon, through NGO's, not through governmental bodies...

Anyways, you know it feels weird to criticize the Lebanese people while they are facing all this while I'm sitting here in front of a computer! Just makes me feel like May Antoinette!! so let's just forget it

Ola, The Arab world did not show strong condemnation of israel's latest atrocities! How long did it take them to actually condemn, and when they did, it was done weakly? whereas they were very quick to putting the blame on Hezbollah. The Lebanese don't see a reason (as we read in the article)as to why they should accept their help! And I honestly cannot argue against their reasons!

Khaled, like Rihab said the source is Reuters

That's an interesting reaction from the public... but I suppose it's understandable.

Khaled - The source was Reuters not Yahoo, Yahoo gets its news from other sources...

Iman, I'm not defending the official opinion of Jordanina government, but I don't think that Yahoo is a loyal source of news about the area... I saw in a tv report that no one could get into jordanian planes cuz they were not ready to take a very hard injured people back to jordan... I don't know what to say...

First, did Jordan give the green light? Well, maybe Jordan't stance wasn't powerful, as most if not all Arab countries, and this is said to have encouraged Israel to intensify its atrocities against Lebanon... Well, I admit that, but bear in mind that Lebanon is accepting aids from the USA! I mean come on, the United States sends aids to Lebanon and, in the dame time, they send military aid to Israel!
