[...] I got my vacation approved for this Summer … Why are tickets SO expensive?! To pay this much for only 2 weeks is crazy, but I do more crazy things sometimes anyway…it wouldn’t stop at this…I’m very excited about travelling this year more than any other year because 1) We will be putting our final final final touches on the family house…so we will finally have a place to stay in every time we visit Palestine. 2) I will carry on this project. It went relatively well initially, but the more research I did, the more complicated it got. I apologize to some for not sending an email with more details…I will do so very soon, but I’m finding that taking the stuff with me is going to be nearly impossible. I will however purchase the items from Palestine…by doing so, I will not have to go through this whole very complicated logistics process and more importantly i will be helping - even if by very little - the Palestinian economy…I’ve already mentioned that people generally tend to be very reluctant giving out money, I will take it on individually. 3) I will get to spend a lot of my time in Jordan with Shaden! Finally she gets to be in Jordan at the same time I’m there. I will give you the exact travel date and time so you can pick me up from the airport :d In fact, I already invited myself over for a few evenings! I bet Shaden, being the sweet person she is, will give up her bed for me… but it’s not necessary because I project that we will be up all night talking and catching up! Don’t forget the list of adventures we will embark on…we will need at least a few days to go to all the places we talked about before. How excited are you? (1 being whatever. 2 being with or without you, it’s all the same. 3 being somewhat excited. 4 being excited. 5 being absolutely thrilled an I cannot wait!) [...]

What a very admirable undertaking, a great idea and I wish you much luck.

We have similar drives at my workplace. It started with a shoebox drive for children in the Dominican Republic, where we would fill shoeboxes with items similar to the ones you are suggesting. The chocolate is a good idea, but in transport, the changes in temperature could lead to melting/discoloring. Maybe we can take a suggestion from what is permitted to sent to US troops.

I would be interested in hearing more about the logistics on how the items will be collected Stateside, packaged, sent over and distributed. I have no doubt that we will be able to solicit and collect donations from the generous donors we are proud to call out family, friends and neighbors. So if this is anything like my workplace, then when someone identifies an issue they are in fact "volunteering" to help with it...so sign me up.

Iman, it will be great if you could somehow get more information about these children and the orphanages where they stay. Get their addresses and launch an online campaign for sponsoring orphans, you know that it doesn't really cost much to sponsor a child especially for those living outside the Arab World, it won't be costy for them, or shall I say shouldn't?

Even when one person can't sponsor a child alone, we can have more than one person sponsoring one child.

I want to help you, and inshallah I'll be able to do more than helping with an online campaign.

Keep me updated.
