What a start…

Under: Random Thoughts, Uncategorized @ 12:21 pm on Monday, 12.11.06

My alarm clock is set to 5:06 a.m. but for some odd reason, I woke up at 4 a.m this morning and couldn’t go back to sleep. I started getting ready for work, turned the news on and heard the horrible news out of Gaza, Palestine. Not a good way to start the morning off, but that’s the brutal reality of what’s out there these days…

I was craving vanilla chai and a toasted whole wheat bagel from Dunkin Donuts, so on the way to work we stopped by and got some. I am trying to watch what I eat, since I believe I’ve put on some weight this past month…which really sucks and kinda goes against the goal I had set for myself earlier… but I still have sometime to achieve it…that’s why I asked for light cream cheese…but those at Dunkin Donuts don’t really speak English too well, and that really frustrates me. If you want to work in Customer Service in a country where English is the primary language, please learn to speak first! That’s the least that one can do, no!?

So what do I find in my bag?? Regular cream cheese, no napkins! ugh! I hate that…what an annoying way to start the morning!
to top it off…I get to work, get out of the car, as I’m crossing the street I realize that I left my chai in the car…I was too lazy to go back for it…I can taste it now! I might stop by on the way out to lunch and grab it. I’m sure it’s very cold now, but it’ll taste good! hopefully the parking attendant didn’t decide to take a sip out of it… Ok, I’m grossed out now…I’ll just buy a new one! Or never mind.. I don’t want any anymore!
I love Mondays!

Lets not pass judgement on the Customer Service employees. You’re better than that. It’s possible that lot of these people are working there only so that it can help pay for English lessons or to pay tuition fees for their kids. Get off your high horse :) It’s easy to unfairly critisize these poor folks when you live in the lap of luxury.

My experience with all Dunkin Donuts’ Customer Service has been one and the same … and so I speak of experience when I say that it doesn’t hurt if they actually learn the language of the country they’re living in and most importantly working in!

And how did you conclude that I live in the ‘lap of luxury?’ … I suggest you take your own advice and not pass judgement on me without having a single clue who I am or what I stand for. But thanks for the tip anyway! very well noted!

I apologize for passing judgement on you. I guess I should’ve said relative luxury. In an earlier post during the Israel/Lebanon crisis, you had alluded to living in a comfortable house in the Washington suburbs complete with air conditioning. That’s not exactly a refugee camp in the Gaza Strip, if you catch my drift. Try to be a little more tolerant of people less fortunate than yourself. At least give it a shot once in a while.

Yeah, I usually like to believe I am very tolerant…but there are those ’special’ things and ’special’ people who tend to get on my nerves every now and then! By the way, you have the wrong person, I live in a comfortable house in the Illinois suburbs!
