Things happen…

Under: Random Thoughts, Uncategorized @ 2:28 pm on Friday, 12.15.06

Walking out the house this morning with one of my favorite high-heel boots, I felt something strange happen…My heel broke! That really sucks! I’m not so sure it’s worth fixing, but I’ll give it a shot anyway!

Lesson of the day:

Don’t get overly attached to any item, any place, or any person in your life…because there may come a day in which you may lose them!

heeeeeeeey, - that’s harsh to say “Don’t get overly attached to…..to any person in your life…..lose them”! You’ll be missing out on loads of drama, melodrama, comedy, emotion overloads, etc, there’s no fun or life in that!!! - now, come on seriously, you don’t want to be cold. You want to get overly attached to a person in your life, but, you want to be wise (attempt @ being wise, throwing the dice, and claiming a leap of faith doesn’t count), it’s all about making the right choice in that overly attached to a person.

All else that is related to material possessions I whole heartedly agree, as they’re all easily replaceable. (though, similarly it is possible to replace the person you were once overly attached too, with another new & improved person;) And, a whole new story would ensue)

Ps:- Long topics can be drawn out from a broken heal off a pair boots you loved…and an insomniac reader

Good point Iman but sometimes you can’t help but get attached to one thing or another: For instance, there is one particulr mug that I’m so attached to it in my house, although there are ten other mugs that I can choose from, for some reason when I don’t find that mug I go wild looking for it all over the house. I’m also attached to one rarticular terry towel, god forbid that I don’t find it ready and waiting for me when I’m ready for a bath. The same goes for that one particular knife, I like to peel, slice, cut, stab, or do whatever needs to be done with a knife using that one particular knife. I guess we all have several personal items that we some how get attached to it and wish that we could keep it for ever.

OH! That’s awful, one of the heels on my black boots feels like it’s about to break, but I’m still gonna wear it until it does :p

I don’t think it’s a matter of getting attached, but a matter of giving it such importance that life is impossible with it. I agree with Nimer, not getting attached to people makes you miss out on a lot of life experiences, but everything must be given its due importance, and its value in your life should not be exaggerated.

Iman, I think you’re reading too much into this. It’s not the end of the world. It was only a high-heel boot. You’ll get over it :)

Then we should erase our feelings at the same time:) and you might as well act as a piece of ice :P

Getting attached to things, places or a certain person is what makes you a human. It just doesnt work any other way :)

There’s a mug that was brought to me as a gift from Kenya and although I have 5 mugs at work, I can’t drink nescafe if this mug is missing… It just becomes tasteless no matter how much sugar I add ;) … you get attached to things easily and they become irreplacable without you realising, no matter how hard you try to avoid this.. and so is the case when you get attached to people but with people it’s harder in my opinion… it’s possible that you can replace a person but it will never be the same,,, it would become a new life with new dreams and a new target… it would never be the same…

Interesting! I have the same feeling towards a few knives that I use and towards the water in my house…if it’s not bottled water, I have a hard time drinking it anywhere else other than my house

Nimer, Hatem, queenie (nice to see you here:) eternal optimist (your nickname gives me hope, thanks for stopping by;),Ohoud, Dima…thanks for your comments…and that’s why I said overly attached…to the point where it becomes almost impossible to function without the existence of what once was…No one can live in complete isolation in the process ridding themselves of any type of interaction with people and/or possession of things, but ultimately we have to be able to go on with our lives while entertaining the possibility that there may come a day in which they’re no longer part of it! it’s hard to do I’m sure, but it’s just a thought!

kerr, sorry for the incorrect spelling. I hope in the future my correct spelling will prevent you from launching attacks on Palestine. But even if I make spelling mistakes once in a while, please do not take this as an invitation to attack Palestine.
