Interesting & agreed upon observation

Under: Uncategorized, Ugh! @ 9:35 am on Saturday, 10.20.07

Her first time in Amman was for her wedding last September…She was there for a week. She’s there now for a second time visiting her in-laws…

Me: Hope you’re enjoying your time?

She: I am, but I’m homesick. I miss you guys.

Me: Aww..I don’t miss you…we’re not going anywhere…enjoy your time…

She: I miss Chicago…

Me: It’ll be here when you come back…
So, what do you think of the girls in Amman so far? (I have issues with a lot of girls back home so I like to get others’ perspective on that!)

She: They are really really stuck up here. They give me dirty looks. Don’t be surprised if I told you I slapped one.

……

Add to that annoying, spoiled, empty and shallow…

iMAN,
isn’t it weird to see some Arab Americans especially girls coming back just to get married or actually get sold out and then go back “home”?

They were raised with different mentality, how would they accept such thing even a country girl wont accept it these days?

anyway, Welcome back.

So this observation is agreed upon by “you” and and your friend “she”?? looool I have no problem with you restricting your “agreed upon observation” to only you and your friend’s opinion..
I thought you’d be smarter than that and take in to consideration many more opinions before reaching such “fact”.
What about a poll in which you ask whether girls back home are “annoying, spoiled, empty and shallow”??
Yes/No question format?.. that would be way smarter than the way you reaching your “conclusions” ;)

qabbani, thank you…I’ve been here all along! :p

Jad, He’s Jordanian American…his family lives back home and they wanted the wedding to be in Amman :)

secratea, good to see you here:-)…I’d be happy to put up a poll and ask for others’ opinion…however, based on my own experience in dealing with girls from back home and my sisters’ experiences as well as my friends’ I do believe that yes, they are annoying, empty and shallow and I really don’t need a poll to prove that…

ummm.. this is weird! Im always defending Ammany girls and the reason why I do so is that me being not in Amman now makes me appreciate more the Ammany girls.

Some of them are all of what you mentioned, but others are not.. just like any other place in the world. I think this is a really hard unfair generalized judgement!

Hi Dima!
I didn’t say ALL Ammani girls are annoying, empty, spoiled and shallow… I didn’t even talk about Ammani girls…I said I have issues with a lot of girls from back home… it’s my own experience as well as others’ I’m close to… so I don’t see that as being an unfair judgment …

iMAN,
Being a Jordanian-American wont distinguish him from Arab-American.

anyway, my point was how stupid it is to go back and marry someone raised in different cultural.

Being a Jordanian-American wont distinguish him from Arab-American.

Meaning?

anyway, my point was how stupid it is to go back and marry someone raised in different cultural.

I see your point…but my friend didn’t go back home to marry someone from there…and your comment seemed to have been a reference to her doing that; that’s why I mentioned he’s Jordanian-American…or Arab-American (i.e. he’s been here for a long time and lives here!)

LOL I know what she’s talking about! she’ll get used to it though. You know what I think about Ammani girls (in general), I’d rather not share my thoughts on this one but I’d like to say that before I move to Jordan and maybe you remember, I used to defend girls in the Arab world including those in Jordan, but now I know exactly what you were talking about.

I’d rather not share my thoughts on this one

Why not … it’ll be interesting!
