Al-Guoal is certainly a man with a free voice. I hope his release lead to an internal dialogue among Palestinians although I believe that we are a long way from building a strong Palestinian nation.

I believe that this deadly strife between Hamas and Fatah is typical of a painful librating and nation building process that occupied people have to endure through to finally attain freedom. The Algerian revolution went through a much bloodier route, with many slaughtered by their own brethren and people. Iraq is going down the same path with even more devastating results that have already reduced the most powerful Arab nation into pathetic enclaves ruled by secular thugs. It is disturbing, but it is unfortunately the destiny of occupied nations who lack the military might to defeat their occupiers.

The tension between the secular and religious sectors in the Palestinian has been amassing for many years. With the main key figures, Arafat and Sheikh Yassin gone from the scene, the two sides are gearing for more confrontation. This comes at a time when the racist regime in Israel is increasingly robbing Palestinians the opportunity of building a viable country by building more settlements, isolating communities from the world and from each other and frustrating even the most moderate elements in the Palestinian community by giving them empty promises.
