You know what, it’s not even worth giving a full review. I was very interested in reading the book mainly because I read that it is autobiographical account of a highly educated woman, who taught at Ivy League Universities. I believed as her area of study being Anthropology - or as so she claims, it would add a lot of substance to the book for I thought she would historically link her own experience as a callgirl to culture and relate them to modern society . Reading her ‘autobiography’ was disturbing. It was very poorly written. The writing was choppy. It lacked smooth transitions. It lacked substance. It was utterly pathetic.

After I finished reading it, I found out that Angell appeared on Oprah where she admitted that she was not a university lecturer as noted in the book. The book which dedicates quite some heavy content about her students, the subjects she is teaching, her Dean, and the staff, she even tells us about her office, tests, bla bla bla. The truth is she was a High School French teacher.

From Social Anthropology and introducing a new course on the history and sociology of prostitution at some top Ivy League school such as MIT and Harvard to a High School French teacher. Doesn’t that say a lot about the book? I believe so. As I read on Amazon, “upon further questioning by Oprah–actually, it was Oprah repeating the same statement of “You did this to make yourself look better.” Over and over–Ms. Angell finally admitted that, yes, she kept the fictionalized elements in the book to make her look better.”

Well, well. And there we have a ‘highly educated woman’ talking to us about morals and ethics in her pages and wanting us to understand where she’s coming from when in fact her account is based on a big lie. I contacted MIT - the Dean of the Anthropology Department - they confirmed that no such person taught with them and no such course or even similar course was ever or currently is taught at MIT. The Dean of the Divinity school at Yale said he never heard of Jeannette Angell. How do you trust a liar? If a lot of what she says in her “autobiography” is just a mere figment of her own imagination then most definitely this book should have been labeled and marketed as just that - Fiction!!
I called her Literary Reprsentitive and gave my strong opinion about the lies decorating her so called true story and asked him questions for which he couldn’t offer me any answers as he was stumbling on his words trying to find something to excuse the big lies… I asked for my money back

I contacted her Publisher. They claimed that at the time the book came out, and marketed as a true story, they were not the publishing copmany. They instead gave me the UK based publishing company to contact.

Ok, I think I just gave it more of my writing time than it deserved.
From the first few pages, I was able to deduce that her story is full of bullshit, but still wanted to give it the benefit of the doubt.

Please sign this petition asking UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) to correct this mistake and add all Palestinian refugee camps within the Occupied Palestinian Territories to their “Google Earth Refugee’s World Layer.”

The latest school shooting takes place at NIU!

This is the first alert that went up on the NIU homepage:

There has been a report of a possible gunman on campus. Get to a safe area and take precautions until given the all clear. Avoid the King Commons and all buildings in that vicinity.

With minutes left in a class in ocean sciences at Northern Illinois University on Thursday afternoon, a tall skinny man dressed all in black stepped out from behind a curtain on the stage of the lecture hall, said nothing, and opened fire with a shotgun, the authorities and witnesses said. Killing 7 and injuring more than 20.

When the gunman first burst in, Mr. McEnery said, the classroom turned loud and chaotic with some students shouting, “He has a gun!” and “Call 911!”

Then came an eerie silence, but for the bullets. “Once he settled in and started shooting people, pretty much everyone was quiet,”

The gunman had been a graduate student in sociology at the university in 2007, but was no longer enrolled. Records suggested that the man, who had more recently attended a different state school, had no previous police contact, the authorities said.

This is sick! It rally is a jungle out there!
My prayers go out to the victims and condolences to their families as they try to cope with their loss.

I’ve written more than 5 posts on 5 different instances about the Gaza situation over the past weekend…and deleted all 5 before publishing any of them … Anyway, to say mildly, the situation is beyond absurd … Yes the occupation sucks…Yes the occupation is barbaric…Yes the occupation is the root cause of all the crap (I feel this is the most expressive word I can come up with at this time) that Palestinian men, women, Children, cities and towns have been enduring and continue to endure… But right now I want to give myself the right to blame some for the latest humanitarian crisis, the latest misery, the latest catastrophe on the Cancer of Palestine - Hamas! They are the source of the misery Gaza and Gazans have been Plagued with… It’s time to put the firecrackers away and think logically of the best way to get your people out of the misery you (of course with the help of your very people, as they are the incompetent citizens who voted you in to begin with) put them through since you ‘liberated Gaza.’

End the Siege!

Some sick pathetic psycho decides to go suicidal in a Shopping Mall in Nebraska killing 8 and injuring 5 then taking his own life away…Good riddance…but why take away innocent lives before taking away your own?! The gunman shot one man in the head from a third-floor balcony and others at point-blank range, witnesses said. Some of the victims were shot inside Von Maur department store as they lined up to get their purchased Christmas gifts wrapped…

For these people, what was meant to be a typical shopping trip, ended up being their end. How depressing! How Sad!

Schools, Universities, even homes and workplaces, and now malls are no longer safe … one has no clue where and when the next psycho is going to take out his sick outrage on innocent random people…

I wasn’t the type of student who dropped classes easily while in school. I was always passionate about the courses I chose and enjoyed them (with the exception of Geography and Logic, for I had very lousy instructors) to the fullest…

Women Studies was an elective I took my second year in Undergrad… It was an introductory course that was aimed at selected theories, ideas and debates that help us to understand how gender is a social institution that plays a profound role in shaping our lives. Also touching on topics that include theories of gender and sexuality, histories of feminism and contemporary feminist movements, women’s health, reproduction, body image, sexuality, etc. Reading the class syllabus, I felt empowered …

A few weeks into the semester, I could not stand it … the instructor was a hardcore feminist who felt that there should absolutely be no difference what-so-ever between men and women…she called for equality in all form and measure. Something I find unrealistic. I strongly believe that there are certain things that are just meant for women and certain things that are meant for men. She spoke so highly of how she treats her young boy - who was in first grade at the time - and how she dresses him. Imagine a boy in the first grade showing up to school in a hot pink jogging suit. Really. There is nothing wrong with pink, and some of the latest trends carry this color…but hot pink for a first grader boy? That’s stretching a bit… The kid is going to grow up scarred. No matter how open-minded our society is, it really is cruel at times…and to have a young kid go through ridicule just because his hardcore feminist of a mother wants to defy the norm is just too selfish.

One of the assignments called for all the females in the class to visit a female strip club and act as men would, whereas all males in class will show up to a nightclub carrying women purses. We were to record the observations! Yeah. Ok! While it sounded so tempting and an experience worthwhile at 20, I thought she was completely out of her mind! I dropped the class after a minor clash of views with her over her outrageous assignment and what I classified as cruelty towards her little boy and gave up women studies for good!

Now… I classify myself as a feminist who believes in the betterment of women globally and supporting equal opportunities for them in the political, social and workforce spectrum…but I’m not a hardcore psycho

One of the things I cannot stand what-so-ever is cinnamon. I hate it…the smell of it makes me wanna vomit! and it seems that every single damn morning and every single evening, someone on the crappiest trains in the entire States has to be chewing - like a cow - big red cinnamon gum! I am not kidding!

Whistling through out the entire train ride is aggravating … no one wants to listen to that mixed with humming, and crap rap, the smell of chicken wings, body odor AND cinnamon every day!!

I feel the need to soak myself in disinfectant daily…

I just finished watching the series of what NBC referred to as a multi-media manifesto.

Grotesque, disturbing and very sad.

How could someone have so much anger residing within? So much resentment? So much rage?

Anchor Brian Williams said it was ‘a sick business going on the air with this stuff, but felt compelled as journalists but showed restrained because all of us are human, parents and spouses.’ Part of me agrees with NBC airing some of the videos and photos, for we need to know what people - who appear quite normal - are capable of doing. But at the same time, some of what was said by this crazed murderer could be inspirational to other sick minds out there.

If he was mentally ill, why was he attending school with sane people? Why weren’t his suite-mates and professors informed of his mental condition? Of his stalking record? And just as importantly, why was he able to purchase a gun?

A lot of issues and questions need to be addressed and raised as a result of this unfortunate incident - the worst school shooting in American history … a massacre that took the lives of innocent people as they attended classes. No Mr. President, I refuse to believe that these students and teachers were ‘in the wrong place at the wrong time’…they were doing what they’ve been doing every single day in the same place, at the same time since the beginning of their school year. The wrong place at the wrong time analogy does not apply to just any situation.

As we look back at what had happened, we need to address security. We need to address gun control. We need to make sure we are doing all that is within our capability as a nation to ensure the security of our families, students, teachers, employees and average citizens.

Again, may their souls rest in peace and may God grant their families the patience to get through these tough times.
